The October newsletter will be put together this weekend (29-30 September). Any last-minute contributions should be sent to wightboots@iowfigureskaters.co.uk by Friday 28 September. We aim to keep this issue down to four pages, and the emphasis will be on the forthcoming club competition.


The club’s annual artistic competition is scheduled to take place on 21 October, and the closing date for entries is 7 October.  The draw will take place on the day of the next committee meeting (12 October). Please refer to the posters in the ice rink for details.

Former IW skater Sophie Kent took first place in the Novice Ladies event at the IJS competitions in Sheffield on 17 to 21 September. Her total score was 65.79. Sophie now skates at Sheffield.

The Isle of Wight Ice Dance & Figure Skating Club came first with Phantom of the Opera in the section for pedestrians from other organisations at Ryde Carnival on Thursday 30 August.
Note that the County Press (7 September) erroneously lists the club in the results as Ryde Arena Tiger Skating Club.
